Aims of the DHS Old Boys Association
At the School's splendid Centenary Celebrations it was announced that an attempt would be made to reinstate the Association an a Committee was formed by volunteers that came forward on that day.
Alan Porter was elected as the first Chairman and the Committee was given the full support of the Headmaster Dr N M Pettit. It was agreed that the aims would be:
- to try to build a database of names and addresses which could establish a network of OB contacts to facilitate re-establishment of old friendships;
- to distribute newsletters and an annual School Magazine to all OBs prepared to subscribe to the costs of production and distribution;
- to use the training and experience of OBs to advise any boys at the school who were not otherwise able to gain detailed information on a career.
- to establish a list of OBs who would volunteer to consider helping boys visiting their area for, say, job interviews.

Benefits of joining the DHSOBA
- You will receive an annual list of subscribing members. This could help you to contact each other either for the first time for years or on a more regular basis to arrange attendance together at Association events to talk over old times.
- You will receive notification of organised events such as School Open Days, Speech Days, Annual General Meeting, routine Committee Meetings (possibly)(any member would be welcome by arrangement in advance but please confirm on the day with the school secretary before turning up) and Organised Visits or other Social Events.
- A copy of the School Magazine at the end of the year. This magazine had lapsed for some years but the present headmaster was keen to reinstate the publication and with the help of the OB Committee it will be on the third edition this year. We help the boys with some advice, some articles and funding but they do the production.
- Keeping in contact with the school and receiving a copy of the Head's Newsletter. Topics on education policy and whether DHS will be involved in arguments about Grammar School status may surface in the next year.
